Brief 4: Sun & Moon - Pattern Development

I started trying to come up with a pattern that can be used across the branding.
I thought that it could be used on the thank you cards, business cards, letterhead, invoice and web banners.

I started with experimenting with Photoshop brushes.

I tried a bigger pattern at first but felt it was too simple

I tried just circle shapes in pastel colours to represent a sun and moon and reflect the colour choices the client wants

I then tried a crescent instead

I felt that was too structured, so tried to create a more random pattern

I then added strokes which represent sun rays

I then changed the colour which I think works better

I then tried crescents again instead of the rays

I tried different brushes to see what effects I could achieve, and also experimented with different pastel colours to see what the client would prefer

I named these layers so that I knew what brush I used!

I then tried creating a circular ring to see how that worked

This looks too spaced out, and I feel the colour scheme is quite cold

I prefer this warmer scheme, however when I showed the client she said it looks like Jack Will's colour scheme.
I like the circular rings better than the ring in the previous example

I then experimented more with lines within circles

And tried a more systematic approach to the pattern

I also tried having black pattern with a pastel coloured logo background but I wasn't keen on this
