Brief 12: Yearbook - Student Work

Emailing me Work
We decided that the students would send me images of their work that they want to put in the yearbook.
I thought it would be a good idea to make a note of what layout each student specified and how many images they included so we can be more organised and know the most popular layouts etc.

Since nobody has selected Layout 5, that brings the amount of layouts to only 5 which is fine. There are only two people who have selected layout 3, so I will either ask them if they would prefer another layout, or move the people who did not specify a layout into that category to make it more even.

Keeping Track
I also printed out all of their names so I could go through everybody who had sent me their work, as well as those who hadn't, or needed to resend me images.

Those who hadn't sent me any work I gave them an email

There are still three people who have not sent me work since sending this email a week ago, so I will let Duncan know.

Issues
There have been a few issues with people sending me work, such as

  • Work weeks over the deadline
  • Wrong file formats - psds
  • One image per email - making it harder to group them all
  • Photography with bad angles/lighting
  • Instagram filters
  • Making their own layouts

However, I have been really prompt with emailing and had good communication with the course and they have been really great with getting back to me the correct imagery and been apologetic about sending me the work late. To be honest, it doesn't matter too much that they are late because we asked for them early - this was due to us anticipating that it would take them a while to get us the work. All of the work they have produced is of a really high quality and standard, so I know that their work will stand out and make the book look great due to this.
