Brief 13: DBA - Group Meeting

We had another meeting today following the feedback from yesterday. We decided that since we want to include animation in the project, we should all have a tutorial with one of the IT guys which we did this morning. To be honest, I didn't really learn anything new and thought it would have been good to learn more, but it was a good start and its useful for everybody to know some basics of After Effects. I think this will give us a good angle for the project and make it more fun.

After Effects Notes

Upon set up > after effects > preferences > media and disk cache > change all folders to user work.
Only have to do this once

Wave warp effect is good to give filling up effect

Add mask to give illusion of a letter filling up.


Idea Generation
As we were going with the 'less is more, less is north' idea, we decided to think of a statement each to go with, so we can think of a poster concept to go with it.

I was thinking there is less hassle, stress, tourists, crime, smog,
Less time commuting, more time doing/experiencing/living

So I decided to go with 'less commuting, more living' for my statement.

We were trying to think of better words to communicate the same meaning for 'less clutter, more freedom'. We looked on a thesaurus for this and someone mentioned squeeze, which I thought worked well with space: less squeeze, more space. This relates to more space for people to breathe without it sounding like it isn't busy in the North.

5 Statements
Here are the five statements that we agreed on.

• Less expense, more income
• Less commuting, more living
• Less squeeze, more space
• Less former, more future
• Less there, more here

Task for next week
Everyone has one each, and for next week we are going to create a poster design for each one. This will give us a chance to explore brand, type, colours, illustration etc, and we will decide what we like from each others to get a final visual next time we meet up. This gives everyone a chance to design and get ideas out there.

Animation
We really want to use animation, so for the posters we are going to make interactive ones that will be used on billboards etc. We said we will come up with an animation concept for our statement.

Additional Areas
We thought about what other points we want to look at, and feel train livery would be a good one to do as it is illustrative and the concept would work well going to London. We also thought environmental would be really fun and creative to explore.
