I decided to think about what I could put on the website that would 1. make people want to adopt an animal here, 2. be economical due to the subject and 3. be different from the WWF website.
WWF
I am quite conscious of it being similar to the WWF website, and I want to think how I can go from a different angle with this. From my research, I found that the websites I liked most and connected to, where the ones with more personality.
See Where Your Money Goes
If I were to adopt an animal, I would want to know where the money is going to help my specific animal. So I thought it would be a good idea to be able to keep up to date with your animal and track its progress. To do this I thought it would be good to show a timeline on the website which shows the user milestones that are achieved when a certain amount of money is reached. This could be things like a conservation project has started or been completed.
Track your Animal
I did want to have a way to track your animal real time, through their GPS tag or something, but I quickly realised that would be a bad idea due to poacher's being able to track them. But I do want a way for the user to learn more about their animal's whereabouts, and the progress that is happening to them. To do this, I thought a map, perhaps a google map, showing their habitat would be good. The user could roam the area and there would be boxes of information in different parts for the user to open and look at. I also thought it would be a good idea for the packages to be tailored to each animal, so the user knows exactly where their money is going.
Packages
I think having different packages is a good idea because it caters to different spending habits. I was thinking on that page you could choose the animal and payment option you want to consider in a filter, and then it would show a visual timeline of how you would help by selecting that option. I definitely want to keep it visual, and I don't want to use a boring, standard form that I saw on the Aspinall website.
Keep it Online
As the brand is conscious of the environment, I decided not to have a printed newsletter package that would be sent out to people. Instead, when you adopt an animal I thought it would be better to receive an email newsletter, and perhaps a member's page on the site where users can review all their newsletters, sign petitions and track their animal's progress.
Petitions
To let the user further help the animals, I thought it would be a good idea to include petitions that were specific to each animal. This is something users can do for free
