Ditto Press: Research Methodologies - Tutorial

Today we had a tutorial on the methodologies we have been coming up with.

First Methodology
I started by introducing mine with how I create a lot of mindmaps and lists at first to get my ideas down and see what i want to research further and to help me keep on track. I then said I talk to a lot of people. This helps me understand the topic more, how something works, what problems people encounter when using something etc etc.

Feedback
When we had all spoken about the methodologies Ben asked that we name them and illustrate the project as though we were giving them to a client. We realised that they were all quite boring, so by doing this it was an attempt to make them more interesting. I knew mine was very standard and it needed something to make it stand out.

Name and Illustrate Methodology
We were given 15 minutes to name/illustrate them so I started to think quickly how I could make mine more interesting and unique to me as it is pretty standard. I started thinking about how the mindmaps play an important part in my research, and remembered that in first year I used to always draw them on the condensation of my shower door. I used to like doing that because it was a good time to think about a project in the morning and I love long showers and taking that time to sit and think. I stopped because I moved house where I had to share a shower with boys and didn't like spending time in it, for obvious reasons. But now I have my own shower again so it is something I can restart.

I decided to call my methodology 'Shower Cap' - after a thinking cap. I drew a bath/shower with a mindmap on the door to show visually what I mean.

Feedback
This time round people were more responsive to my idea and thought it was more interesting than before. To develop this Ben suggested to record and document it, for example using a disposable waterproof camera.
