Brief 9: Secret 7 - Diana Ross - Research

I decided to start doing research for my favourite song, Reflections by Diana Ross and the Supremes. I started looking at 60s design, motown posters and styles that could be applied to my sleeve based on that era.

Shapes
Lots of different shapes were used then, and they are an imperfect style with different angles and widths.

I looked at some modern posters that take onboard the 60s style, noting the bright colours that they use, the random shapes and the overall aesthetic.

Some posters and designs have the Detroit city skyline because this is where a lot of bands originated from. Diana Ross and the Supremes formed in Detroit.

I looked at some more designs that have a 60s theme, and saw that bright colours is a very common theme.

I then started looking at motown posters. I found that they mostly use bright colours with black and white photography for a contrast. I love this style, and think it would be appropriate to incorporate this into my own design.

I came across some posters a designer has created based on Motown songs and I love them! I think they are really clever in showing the songs.
